The launch of UK Biobank to the research community has generated considerable interest in the project from around the world. Within two days of opening, almost 100 scientists had submitted their registrations. UK Biobank will ensure that only those who are bona fide researchers working on health related research in the public interest get access to the valuable information and data.
BBC’s Today programme interviewed UK Biobank Principal Investigator Professor Sir Rory Collins about the study on Friday morning, 30th March 2012. Channel 4 News carried a piece about UK Biobank on its Friday evening bulletin. Articles were carried in a wide range of newspapers and magazines, including the New Scientist, Nature and Reuters.
