How to get to UK Biobank

UK Biobank is situated on the ground floor of St Philips Point on Temple Row (next to Needless Alley) in the centre of Birmingham, close to St Philips Cathedral.

By Foot: We are a short walk from Colmore Row, Corporation Street and Birmingham New Street station (main exit). If approaching from New Street, walk up Needless Alley (look out for Tesco on the corner) or Temple Street to reach Temple Row. St Philips Point is set back, opposite the green, at the top end of Needless Alley. Enter via the main entrance and go up the ramp on the right.

By Bus: St Philips Point is a short walk from the bus stops on Colmore Row and Corporation Street. For details of bus services, visit www.travelinemidlands.co.uk or telephone 0871 200 22 33

By Tram: Snow Hill station is the nearest Metro station to St Philips Point. For details of Metro services, visit www.travelmetro.co.uk or telephone 0121 254 7272.

By Train: Local and national trains run into the centre of Birmingham, with stations at Birmingham New Street, Snow Hill and Birmingham Moor Street. For information on train times, please visit www.nationalrail.co.uk or telephone 08457 48 49 50.

Car Parking: The nearest car park is at Livery Street (postcode B3 2PB – opening hours: Mon-Sat 6am to 11.30pm) – nb. this car park is a 10 minute walk from St Philips Point. Alternative parking is available at Albert Street NCP (postcode B4 7LM – entrance on Fazeley Street/Freeman Street) open Mon-Sat 6am to midnight. By Car: If approaching the city centre from the North (M6 junction 6) - join the A38(M) Aston Expressway and follow the A38 (Corporation Street) in to the city. Where the road splits, bear left on to A38 (slip road). Continue along and follow the A4400 (St Chad’s Queensway). At St Chad’s Circus roundabout take 2nd exit, and then turn left onto Livery Street. Turn right onto Colmore Row and then turn left on to Temple Row West. Follow the road round onto Temple Row, St Philips Point should be visible between the Bank of Scotland and the Allied Irish Bank.

If approaching the city centre from the West (A456) – follow Broad Street (A456) and join the A4400 (Paradise Circus Queensway). At the Paradise Circus Queensway roundabout, exit onto A4400 (Great Charles Street Queensway). At St Chad’s Circus roundabout take the 5th exit and then turn left onto Livery Street. Turn right onto Colmore Row and then turn left on to Temple Row West. Follow the road round onto Temple Row, St Philips Point should be visible between the Bank of Scotland and the Allied Irish Bank.

On arrival at St Philips Point: on entering the building, please take the ramp to your right which will lead you to the UK Biobank reception.
