How to get to UK Biobank
UK Biobank is situated in the centre of Liverpool in the Observatory building on Old Haymarket, near to St George’s Hall and the World Museum Liverpool.
By Foot: UK Biobank is a three minute walk along St. John’s Lane from Liverpool Lime Street train station. From Queen Square bus station, turn right on to Whitechapel (which becomes Old Haymarket) and the Observatory building is just a two minute walk away.

By Rail: Local train services run into the city centre of Liverpool. Lime Street station is the nearest to the Observatory building. For information on train travel, visit www.merseytravel.gov.uk or telephone Traveline on 0871 200 2233.

Parking: The nearest parking is at the Queen Square car park (next door to the Observatory building). The car park is open 24hours, seven days a week, and provides disabled parking on all levels.
From the North: Join the A59 and follow signs for Liverpool and Liverpool City Centre. Keep in right hand lanes and continue forward onto the A59 (sign-posted City Centre, Birkenhead). Continue forward following signs for City Centre (E), Birkenhead. Follow signs for Queen Square, at the roundabout take the second exit and continue straight on. UK Biobank will be visible directly ahead.
From the East: Join the M62 and follow signs for Liverpool. At the end of the motorway follow signs for City Centre A5080 (A5047). Continue down the A5047 Edge Lane. At traffic signals turn right on to B5340 (Hall Lane) sign-posted City Centre. At traffic signals continue forwards on to Erskine Street, sign-posted City Centre. Proceed straight on at the next set of traffic lights, on to Islington A580. Follow signs for City Centre (N & S). Leave the A580 and turn left at the traffic lights following signs for Queens Square, Birkenhead Tunnel. At the roundabout continue forward, taking the second exit. UK Biobank will be visible directly in front of you.
From the West: Leave the M53 at Junction 3 and join the A552 sign-posted Birkenhead - Liverpool Tunnel. Follow signs for the Birkenhead Tunnel A552. Continue forward via the Birkenhead Tunnel (Queensway Toll). Upon exiting the tunnel take the third exit at the roundabout. UK Biobank is visible directly ahead.
On arrival at UK Biobank: Please report to the reception on the ground floor.
