How to get to UK Biobank

UK Biobank’s mobile assessment centre (pictured above) will be located in the West Car Park at Swansea Civic Centre (formerly known as County Hall) from mid-March 2010 onwards. The assessment centre (which has been custom built for UK Biobank) will be recruiting people from the Swansea region for a limited period only. It is fully accessible for people with disabilities, however should you require any further information or special assistance to attend, please contact UK Biobank on Freephone 0800 0 276 276.

By foot: We are a short walk from the centre of Swansea, just a few minutes from the Quadrant shopping centre and bus station. On arrival at the Civic Centre, follow signs for the Registrars and West Car Park.

By Bus: Metro 4 (linking Morriston with Swansea city centre and Singleton) stops at the Civic Centre. Due to the redevelopment of the city centre bus station (at the Quadrant Shopping Centre) temporary bus stops are in operation across the city. By Cycle: For advice on cycling and cycle parking in Swansea, please visit www.swansea.gov.uk/cycling or telephone the Cycling Officer on 01792 636353.

By Train: Swansea railway station is situated on High Street (a 15 minute walk from the Civic Centre) For information on train services, please visit www.nationalrail.co.uk or telephone National Rail enquiries on 08457 48 49 50.

Park and Ride: There are three Park and Ride sites situated off main routes to the north (A4067), east (A483) and northwest (A483) of the city centre, with frequent bus links to and from the City Centre. There is a charge of £2.20 per car, which includes all day parking and return bus travel for up to 4 people. For further information, please visit www.swansea.gov.uk/parkandride.

By Car: Limited parking is available in the West Car Park of the Civic Centre, offered on a first come first served basis. Alternative parking is available at the Paxton Street car park (at junction with Oystermouth Road).

Directions to Civic Centre: Leave the M4 at junction 42, them merge onto A483 (sign-posted Swansea). At roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A483. At traffic signals continue forward onto the A4067 (sign-posted Gower). At traffic signals continue forward onto the A4067 (sign-posted Gower). At traffic signals continue forward onto A4067 (passing LC2 on left). At traffic lights continue forward onto A4067 (passing Tesco Store on right). At traffic lights continue forward onto A4067. At approach to traffic lights filter left onto unnamed road. Take first turning right into Civic Centre site. Follow signs for Registrars and West Car Park for UK Biobank Mobile Assessment Centre. Nb. The West Car Park can also be accessed by taking the entrance to the Civic Centre off Oystermouth Road (opposite Argyle Street).

On arrival please report to the UK Biobank reception.
