- Will you pay my travel expenses, (eg car mileage)?
Yes, you will be able to claim back all travel expenses. Please complete a participant expense claim form (available from the reception desk at the assessment centre), which we can send out to you or can be picked up at the clinic. Please attach all original travel receipts for the round trip made for your UK Biobank's appointment and return the form to the address stated on the form.
If you travel by car, motorcycle or bike you will need to let us know the number of miles covered. Our mileage rate is 15p per mile for cars, 7.5p/mile for motorbikes and 7p/ mile for cyclists. Please remember to keep your travel or car park ticket.
- I don't have any transport - will you pay for a taxi?
We are only able to pay for a taxi for people who are disabled. If you are not disabled, then we will be unable to reimburse you for the cost of a taxi.
- What will happen if I use a Pay and Display car park?
Please keep your car parking ticket. Complete a participant expense claim form and attach the ticket before sending this back to the address stated on the form and we will send you a cheque within 28 days.
- Can my husband/wife/partner/other relative/friend come with me, and will you pay their travel expenses?
You can certainly have someone accompany you on the visit. However, we are only able to pay travel expenses for your companion if you are disabled and need their help to travel, or if you require someone to help with translation. If this is the case, please remember to keep all receipts, or tickets, for both of you. We will ask you to complete a participant expense claim form which can be picked up at the clinic. - I will need to have a baby-sitter/carer to look after my children/elderly relative - will you pay for this?
Unfortunately, we do not have any funds to pay for this. We do not have crèche facilities at the assessment centre and, due to the nature of the tests, we are unable to accommodate children at the centre. However, we can offer you a different appointment time to suit you, for example evenings or a Saturday.
- I'm self employed/ paid by the hour - will you reimburse me for the time I lose?

- Will you pay me to take part?
Sorry, we can't pay you to participate, but we will be happy to reimburse you for any travel expenses.
