Diabetes and hypertension are common chronic diseases and they seriously affect the quality of life. Many studies have found that function change or loss of human gene is a possible reason for these two diseases. In this process, single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) plays important roles, which is genetic variation in a DNA sequence and is with a certain frequency appearing in population.
If we can find SNPs related to disease, it’s possible to predict the risk of an individual and prevent the disease. Once a person is at high risk, it would be benefit for him to take some prevent measures such as changing lifestyle or eating habits. As for patients, in addition to conventional treatment, gene therapy is also a feasible treatment. Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) is a successful method. Here, our purpose is to explore the potential relationship of genetics contributions to type 2 diabetes and hypertension, and the subsequent SNP associated with them .
We plan to control the project duration to about one year.
