Identification of shared risk factors and gene-environment interactions for cardiometabolic diseases and cardiometabolic multimorbidity

Cardiometabolic diseases, including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and cardiovascular diseases, are the predominant non-communicable chronic diseases, causing heavy economic and medical burden worldwide. With the rapid aging of population, cardiometabolic multimorbidity, the coexistence of at least two of cardiometabolic diseases in a person, has become a common phenomenon. To date, it is still a lack of evidence of the shared risk factors and gene-environment interaction for individual cardiometabolic diseases and cardiometabolic multimorbidity. The proposed research aims to identify the shared risk factors, such as lifestyle factors, environment pollution, genetic background, and metabolic factors, and the interactions between these factors for cardiometabolic diseases and cardiometabolic multimorbidity. The expected value of this study will contribute to the prevention and control of cardiometabolic diseases and cardiometabolic multimorbidity and provide scientific evidence to guide health care. In the metabolomic analysis of cardiometabolic multimorbidity, our results will be important in understanding the potential mechanisms of cardiometabolic multimorbidity and provide scientific evidence for therapeutic targets. We plant to apply for the whole cohort, and the proposed duration is 3 years.
