The purpose of this project is to study the risk factors for cardio-renal syndrome (CRS), which is a severe disease in which the patient has both heart and kidney problems. In CRS, the dysfunction in one organ can induce or worsen the disorder in the other organ, often leading to poor prognosis and clinical outcomes. CRS patients may also have other diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes and anemia. The cause of CRS is largely unknown and we don’t even know whether CRS is a genetic disease. Therefore, this project aims to study the genetic and other risk factors in CRS-related diseases for future diagnostic and therapeutic application.
