In light of the uncertainty and current concerns about coronavirus (COVID-19), UK Biobank has temporarily closed its imaging centres in Bristol, Reading, Cheadle and Newcastle. Imaging centres scan up to 18 people a day, to create a valuable resource for health research. They will re-open when the situation improves. At that point, we will make contact with participants and re-book their appointment.
Professor Rory Collins, UK Biobank Principal Investigator, said: “We are very grateful for the support of our participants in this project. Many fall into a somewhat older age group and may be more vulnerable to the impact of coronavirus. Their health and safety is our main concern and we will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.”
