The purpose of this project is to understand the impact of frailty, sarcopenia, and other health conditions on long-term cancer survivors. We will be investigating how these factors affect the development of cardiovascular diseases and healthcare outcomes in this population.

Some of the questions we will be exploring include:

1. How common is frailty in long-term cancer survivors, and does it differ between those with and without cardiovascular disease?
2. Does frailty affect blood pressure control in long-term cancer survivors with hypertension?
3. How does frailty impact the control of cardiovascular disease risk factors in long-term cancer survivors with coronary heart disease?
4. What is the prevalence of sarcopenia in long-term cancer survivors, and does it differ between those with and without cardiovascular disease?
5. How does sarcopenia affect the risk of developing cardiovascular disease in long-term cancer survivors?
6. Are there any associations between sarcopenia and frailty in long-term cancer survivors, and how do these factors predict adverse health outcomes?

With longer life expectancies, the burden of cancer and cardiovascular disease is expected to increase significantly. Older individuals with these conditions are more likely to experience frailty, sarcopenia, and other health issues. These conditions can lead to adverse health outcomes, such as major cardiac events, cardiovascular mortality, and all-cause mortality, among long-term cancer survivors.

This research project, which will span three years, aims to provide evidence on the impact of frailty and sarcopenia in long-term cancer survivors with and without cardiovascular disease. The findings from this study will help guide medical professionals in providing better care for this population.
