Research questions: The guidelines emphasize that physical activity and sleep are related to health, but the relationship between different intensity components of physical activity and sleep patterns and all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease and pancancer mortality is unknown. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between different intensities of physical activity and sleep patterns and mortality (dose-response relationship).

Previous studies have shown that there is a dose-dependent relationship between the intensity of physical activity and certain cancers, such as breast and colon cancer, and that different intensities are associated with the magnitude of the reduction in cancer risk. Wearable trackers are one of the essential tools for monitoring physical activity. In addition, sleep is an important factor affecting all-cause mortality. However, there are few studies on the relationship between physical activity of varying intensity (light to moderate physical activity, aerobic and anaerobic physical activity), sleep questionnaires (including sleep behavior, pattern, and quality), and all-cause, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and pan-cancer mortality in the population. This study fills this gap, aiming to provide direct evidence support for the different intensity components of physical activity in different age groups.
