Nutrition plays a vital role in overall health, influencing physical growth, mental well-being, immune function, and the risk of chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, musculoskeletal and cardiovascular conditions. Its multifaceted nature highlights the need for a holistic approach to health.
However, the complex interactions between specific nutrients and the biological mechanisms underlying disease remain largely unexplored. Understanding these interactions is essential for advancing public health and personal wellness.
This research project aims to implement innovative methodologies to assess the impact of nutrition on health outcomes. Our primary objectives are threefold: first, to identify key nutrients that significantly influence health outcomes and their associated biomarkers; second, to investigate the relationship between molecules that can be modified through nutrition or metabolism and the prevalence of diseases; and third, to assess the role of nutrition in enhancing overall well-being, particularly among aging populations.
Moreover, our secondary aim is to investigate the intricate interactions among lifestyle choices, dietary intakes, and genetic predisposition concerning chronic conditions. We will explore how lifestyle and dietary factors mediate the relationship between genetic predisposition and health outcomes, providing a comprehensive understanding of these dynamics.
Our research will provide valuable insights into how dietary practices affect health. We will develop evidence-based recommendations for the general population and specific subgroups, such as men, women, the elderly, and at-risk individuals. This information will inform targeted interventions aimed at improving health outcomes and contributing to a healthier society. By bridging the gap between nutrition and health, we aspire to empower individuals to make informed dietary choices for long-term well-being.
