Effect of Schizophrenia-Related SNP's on Telomere Length

Principal Investigator: Dr Eugene Hickey
Approved Research ID: 79727
Approval date: April 26th 2022

Lay summary

Aims: The aim of the project essentially is to check if there is any connection between schizophrenia related SNPs to the shortening of telomere length based on data collected in relation to the two. Telomeres shorten in correlation to an individual's health state however there is still relatively very little known about schizophrenia and its related SNPs and their effects, giving the grounds for this research project to determine if any association between the two. The project is for my 4th year in BSc pharmaceutical degree and will only go on for approximately 4 or 5 months.
