Lay summary

Obesity and overweight have been rising in the last five decades, affecting the health of around two billion people. One of the first lines of treatment is lifestyle modification, which includes changes in diet and physical activity patterns. Unfortunately, even if people adhere to this kind of treatment, most recover the weight lost within the next five years due to increased appetite and food intake and decreased energy expenditure. Some studies have shown a relationship between eating carbohydrates and increased physical activity.

The aim of this project is to investigate the relationship between dietary nutrients and levels of physical activity in adults.

This project will last between 6 and 12 months.

If this project finds associations between dietary patterns and physical activity, this will help to develop t0 dietary recommendations to favor an active and healthy lifestyle.
