Evaluation of normal and abnormal aging markers

Principal Investigator: Dr Sara Ahadi
Approved Research ID: 82395
Approval date: September 8th 2022

Lay summary

In this research we will study relationship between biological molecules measured in blood and aging. The aim is to identify normal and abnormal aging markers and understand relationship of those molecules together. Human aging is a complicated biological process, and it is not well understood. understanding biological changes during healthy and non-healthy aging will help us better understand different mechanisms of aging and aging-related diseases. There have been many research studies that showed relationship between blood molecules and aging. With more molecules profiled in recent UKBiobank dataset, we can get deeper understanding of human aging and aging-related diseases. This will result in discovery of disease biomarkers and identification of therapeutic targets. This research is planned for 3 years.
