Healthy lifestyles and genetic risk and its association with liver cancer

Principal Investigator: Professor Honggang Ren

Lay summary

Liver cancer has been a threat to human health worldwide. It is a complex disorder caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors, including diet and lifestyle. Genetic factors increase risk of liver cancer, but the extent to which this can be offset by lifestyle factors remains largely unknown. Therefore, we aim to do a comprehensive 36-month study to investigate whether a healthy lifestyle is associated with lower risk of liver cancer regardless of genetic risk. Our study would provide important implications for public policy makers to prevent and treat liver cancer.
