Impact of SARS-CoV-2 on medication use in patients with chronic diseases
Lay summary
Aim: To investigate changes in medication use before infection and after recovery from SARS-CoV-2 in patients with chronic disease.
Scientific rationale: Evidence suggests that a series of long COVID-19 symptoms may persist long after acute SARS-CoV-2 infection, such as fatigue, dyspnea, palpitations, joint pain and headache. In addition, some research studies have shown that some patients with chronic diseases had poor self-reported physical health after COVID-19. However, the impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection on medication use in chronic patients is still unclear. So this project aims to explore the changes in medication use before infection and after recovery from SARS-CoV-2 in patients with chronic disease.
Project duration: 36 months.
Public health impact: The project is expected to find differences in medication use before infection and after recovery from SARS-CoV-2 in patients with chronic diseases, contributing to increased understanding of the impact of SARS-CoV-2.
