Leveraging large-scale longitudinal health records for research on cancer developing mechanism
Lay summary
Cancer remains a major threat, claiming over a million lives annually despite advancements in detection and treatment. Timely diagnosis is crucial, but many face delays, limiting early intervention opportunities. Leveraging advanced tools and artificial intelligence (AI) on vast medical datasets, this research aims to enhance cancer screening, deepen our understanding of cancer causes (etiology), and innovate treatments. By developing AI-driven screening tools, investigating cancer origins, and creating innovative treatments, we anticipate improved patient survival rates. The outcomes also promise to enhance medical decision-making, ensuring personalized and effective care for every cancer patient. This three-year project holds the potential to make substantial strides in cancer research, treatment, and global health.
