Lay summary

To investigate the associations between lifestyle, gene-environment interactions and healthy longevity.

Scientific rationale: With life expectancy extension worldwide, the number of people over 64 years have exceeded the number of children under 5 years. What makes us worried is that the aging population are still increasing. With aging and longer lifespan, declined physical function and age-related disease have greatly influenced later life quality. Exploring the relationship of lifestyle and gene-environment interaction to longevity and age-related disease will provide new insights on strategies to improve physical function, prevent age-related disease and promote healthy longevity.

Project duration: 36 months.

Public health impact: Understanding the relationship between lifestyle, gene-environment interactions and longevity will contribute to improving health status and extending healthy lifespan.
