Lay summary
Cardiometabolic multimorbidity (CMM) is an increasingly challenge for patients, healthcare providers, and the healthcare systems globally. Most of the existing studies concentrated on the effects of clinical, socioeconomic, and lifestyle profiles on the primary and secondary prevention of single cardiometabolic disease. However, whether and to what extent these effects will remain when it comes to CMM is not clear. We will use data obtained from the UK Biobank to conduct a systematic study investigating the associations between the risk and protective factors (including clinical, socioeconomic, and behavioral factors) and the incidence and/or prognosis of CMM. Results of this project will provide new interventional strategies for the long-term, secondary-prevention management of patients with cardiometabolic diseases. The duration of this project is approximately 36 months.
