Study on relationships between omics traits, environmental exposures, and common chronic diseases
Approved Research ID: 134551
Approval date: January 4th 2024
Lay summary
Aims: The common chronic diseases are induced by molecular variants and wide environmental exposures, this work aims to uncover the potential molecular biomarkers, pathogenic pathway, mixture exposures, and their interactions, construct statistical prediction models for chronic diseases.
Scientific rationale: According to reporting from NIH, the incidence and the mortality of complex chronic diseases (e.g., cardiovascular diseases, cancers) are increasing year by year, leading to a huge burden and threatening human health. However, the complex etiology remains unclear, and a comprehensive, systematic study is warrant to reveal the underlying molecular, environmental factors.
Project duration: 36 months.
Public health: To further understand the etiology of chronic disease, screen novel drug targets, discover environmental influences, thereby providing clues for clinical and public health.
