Approval date: March 31st 2022

Lay summary

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is one of the most important causes of liver disease worldwide and will possibly be the leading cause of end-stage liver disease in the future, which affected both adults and children. In our recent study, we sequenced BDNF- signaling pathway to find susceptible candidate genetic variations in the Chinese population. However, based on the genetic differences in different ethnicity, the effectiveness of our present result was not clear in the Caucasian population by now. In this application, we would like to verify our results in the Caucasian population and compare the differences of risk alleles between the Chinese population and the Caucasian population. All efforts are expected to be finished in the next 36 months. This research might shed light on the therapy of NAFLD in the future.
