The genetic model and mechanism for chronic kidney disease-associated cognitive decline
Lay summary
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a serious health condition affecting millions of people worldwide, often leading to cognitive impairment and other complications. The aim of our research project is to identify the genetic factors responsible for cognitive decline in CKD patients. By studying the genetic mechanisms underlying this process, we hope to develop new treatments and strategies for prevention, ultimately improving the quality of life for patients with CKD. Our project will last for approximately 3 years and has the potential to have a significant public health impact by improving our understanding of the link between CKD and cognitive impairment.
