Approved Research ID: 106776
Approval date: October 5th 2023
Lay summary
This project aims to investigate the interactive relationship between meat, meat related nutrition elements consumption and human health conditions.
Scientific rationale: With the growing awareness of health-consciousness, there have been significant changes in the consumption ratio of various foods and (immune) nutrients. Current studies have shown that meat and process meat products would result higher risk of cardiovascular and Intestinal disease. However, the relationship between meat intake/consumption and chronic and immune diseases was still inconsistent. Furthermore, relevant meat consumption studies did not consider the difference in animal species and process methods. Therefore, this project aims to investigate the interaction between the consumption of different meat/meat products/meat nutrients and chronic/immune disease through population data analysis.
Project duration: This project includes multiply studies, so it will be take 36 month to complete.
Public health impact: The study will provide systematic evidence for the prevention and prognosis of diseases related to meat intake factors. Furthermore, the variation of meat intake pattern after illness will also guide hospital diets design for chronic and immune disease patients.
