Scientific Conference 2022

UK Biobank hosted its Scientific Conference as a virtual event on Tuesday 21st June 2022.

This stimulating event featured world-leading speakers, exciting data developments, and updates on novel scientific results. Enhancing engagement in UK Biobank

Ms Cheryl Moore introduced the first session of the UK Biobank Scientific Conference. The session was chaired by Professor Sir Rory Collins, and included presentations from Professor Naomi Allen, Mr Mahesh Pancholi, Professor Dan Stein and Mr Simon Burall. The session ended with a panel discussion.

Unlocking the potential of genetic data

The second session in our Scientific Conference 2022, chaired by Professor Sir Mene Panglos. Presentations by Professor Sir Peter Donnelly, Professor Luca Lotta, Dr Keren Carss and Professor Martin Tobin. The presentations were followed by a panel discussion.

Environmental exposures for health research

Watch session 3 of the UK Biobank Scientific Conference 2022 about environmental exposures for health research. This session was chaired by Sir Stephen Holgate. Presentations were made by Dr Dale Sandler, Associate Professor Aiden Doherty, Professor Antonio Gasparrini and Associate Professor Ben Lacey. The session ended with a panel discussion.

Transforming health in older age

Watch session 4 of the UK Biobank Scientific Conference 2022 which discusses transforming health in older age. This session was chaired by Professor John Gallacher, whilst presentations were delivered by Professor Paul Matthews, Dr Nick Van Bruggen, Professor Pearse Keane and Professor Naomi Allen. Sir Stephen Holgate. Dr Hal Barron joined the panel discussion at the end of this session and at the end of this video Professor Sir Rory Collins and Dr Robin Buckle conclude the conference.

Mahan Nekoui, from Massachusetts General Hospital and Broad Institute, is UK Biobank's Early Career Researcher of the Year for 2022! Mahan's research "Spatially distinct genetic determinants of aortic dimensions influence risks of aneurysm and stenosis" can be viewed in the Awards session of our Scientific Conference.
