This project aims to establish metabolome atlases and investigate the associated genetic basis. The resulting metabolome atlases and the associated genetic linkage will empower basic researchers and health care providers to generate hypothesis, study causes of metabolic disorders typical of many types of diseases, and design effective clinical treatment strategies. The atlases and the genetic basis will advance precision medicine, precision nutrition, and precision healthcare by providing not only population statistics of various metabolites, but also an individual’s metabolic uniqueness. We expect the project to last at least three years.
