Aims:
Our research project is committed to exploring the multi-dimensional factors influencing cardiovascular health, including social status, environmental factors, biological behaviors, biochemical markers, plasma metabolites, and genomics. These potential factors will be investigated in relation to cardiovascular health (anatomical structures, physiological functions, etc.) as well as the occurrence and development of related diseases. The aim of the research is to extensively explore and precisely identify the key determinants affecting cardiovascular health.

Scientific rationale:
Cardiovascular diseases are among the most serious global public health challenges, characterized by high mortality and disability rates with substantial economic burdens. Research progress and understanding of these diseases have been improving across various levels over recent years, from organ-level insights to genetic factors. However, precise factors influencing cardiovascular health remain incompletely understood. Therefore, our research will utilize the high-quality and large-scale dataset from the UK Biobank to investigate a broad spectrum of factors impacting cardiovascular health, with the goal of precisely identifying the key pathways and determinants involved in the occurrence and development of cardiovascular diseases. We will first apply rigorous statistical methods to analyze this comprehensive dataset and address current knowledge gaps in the cardiovascular field. By enhancing the understanding of critical factors influencing the cardiovascular system, we aim to improve public health initiatives and clinical practices.

Research duration:
The project is expected to last for 36 months.
