Chronic pain represents a significant global health burden, with its impact on individuals and society growing. Our understanding of its multifaceted etiology, particularly in relation to systemic factors, remains limited. Utilizing the UK Biobank’s comprehensive dataset, we aim to address critical research inquiries. We will first investigate how systemic factors affect the onset, progression, and intensity of chronic pain. Including chronic primary pain, cancer-related pain, postoperative pain, post-traumatic pain, neuropathic pain, headache and maxillofacial pain, Chronic visceral pain and Chronic musculoskeletal pain. Next, we aim to elucidate the complex interplay between genetic predisposition and environmental elements, such as lifestyle choices (smoking, diet, and physical activity etc.). Lastly, we seek to identify clinically significant strategies that can facilitate early detection, precise diagnosis, and personalized treatment, thereby enhancing patient outcomes and reducing the global impact of chronic pain.
