This study aims to investigate the multidimensional determinants of functional decline in patients with comorbidities using UK Biobank data. Our research addresses three key questions: 1) Which specific genetic, lifestyle, socioeconomic, and environmental factors significantly influence functional decline risk? 2) How do these factors interact to shape long-term health trajectories? 3) Can we identify distinct patient subgroups with varying risk profiles based on these factors?
Our objectives are to: 1) identify and quantify the impact of these multidimensional factors; 2) elucidate their complex interactions on long-term health outcomes; and 3) develop predictive models for risk stratification to enable personalized interventions.
The scientific significance lies in addressing a critical knowledge gap in comorbidity management. By leveraging the UK Biobank’s rich multidimensional data, this research will uncover key risk factors and their interactions, providing mechanistic insights into functional decline. The findings could inform targeted prevention strategies, optimize healthcare resource allocation, improve patient quality of life, and advance chronic disease management.
