This study integrates factors from various dimensions (such as genetics, environment, behavior, etc.) to formulate a comprehensive approach to health and behavior management.
Past research has predominantly focused on the impact of genes on health, the combined effects of genes and environment on health, the joint influence of genes and behavior on health, as well as the interplay between genes, environment, and behavior. These studies have been largely conducted within the medical domain, with scant attention paid to exploring the relationships among genes, environment, behavior, and health from multi-dimensional. Moreover, single-intervention strategies often fall short in comprehensively investigating the underlying mechanisms across multiple dimensions.
Based on knowledge from genetics, psychology, biology, sociology, environmental science, and other disciplines, our study regards genes, environment, health, and behavior as integral components of a holistic system. We aim to delve into the interrelationships among genes, environment, behavior, and diseases by analyzing the effects at micro-levels (genes), meso-levels (behavior, health), and macro-levels (environment). This study allows us to understand how changes in one part can influence others and the entire system, fostering a more integrated understanding of health and disease.
The project will take place over the next three years. Our research findings will significantly contribute to the prevention of diseases and unusual behaviors. By pinpointing individuals at heightened risk, we can facilitate the implementation of targeted environmental interventions and behavioral modifications aimed at preventing the emergence of mental disorders, addictive behaviors, and other detrimental actions. What’s more, the outcomes of our study will also serve to enhance healthy behaviors. Through a deeper understanding of the environmental circumstances and genetic predispositions that encourage healthy lifestyles and positive social behaviors, we can develop more effective strategies to promote overall well-being and resilience.
