In this project, we will focus on the cardiovascular traits or diseases, including the lipids, coronary artery disease (CAD) and venous thromboembolism (VTE). (1) We aim to find the causal genes or variants of the cardiovascular diseases shared in different populations and multiple traits. (2) We will also try to find the genetic correlated traits with cardiovascular diseases and risk factors of cardiovascular diseases. (3) We will not only develop new statistical genetics methods, but also will apply the state-of-the-art approaches to analyze the data from UK biobank. (4) By understanding the genetic mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases in different populations, we hope to maximize the prediction accuracy of cardiovascular diseases in different populations.
This project will take 36 months. The anticipated public health impact of this project will enhance our understanding of mechanisms of cardiovascular traits or diseases, as well as provide the scientific suggestions for the prevention of cardiovascular traits or diseases.
