This project aims to explore the many factors that are related to chronic diseases and multimorbidity. These include genetic factors and non-genetic factors. Genetic factors, such as gene variants and related biomarkers, are important reasons for the occurrence of many chronic diseases. In addition, non-genetic factors are increasingly drawing interest to researchers due to their contribution to the development of chronic diseases. The common non-genetic factors are dietary factors and environmental factors, for example. Understanding the underlying causal relationships between these factors, single or combined, and the chronic diseases will bring much benefits for the healthily long-live life of human beings. This project is expected to last for 3 years until the goals are met. Our findings may help finding the biological and environmental factors that are closely related to a variety of health-related diseases. It also helps providing scientific guidance for medical services, environmental science, and policy-making.
