Our objective is to explore the relationships between genes, brain features, and neuropsychiatric disorders. It is hypothesized that brain measurements can serve as intermediate phenotypes, linking genotypes to clinical phenotypes, which, in turn, could advance our comprehension of the pathogenesis of neuropsychiatric disorders. The availability of individual-level genotypic data and comprehensive phenotype variables from the UK Biobank enables us to conduct genome-wide association studies focused on brain imaging phenotypes. Our primary aims are to identify genetic variants associated with brain structure, explore potential genetic differences between sexes in relation to brain morphology, and assess the impact of genetic predispositions for neuropsychiatric disorders on brain characteristics. This project holds the potential to enhance our insights into the genetic underpinnings of the human brain and neuropsychiatric conditions.
