My research project aims to discover the genes that can prove the inverse relationship between Alzheimer’s disease and various types of cancers. In the past, there has been research showing an inverse relationship between Alzheimer’s disease and cancer on the cellular level. However, there hasn’t been a research upon the genome-wide association between Alzheimer and cancer. In my research, I wish to discover which specific genes can prove this inverse relationship to help with developing targeted medicine for Alzheimer and cancer in the future.
The estimated duration of my project is 36 months.
The public health impact include giving valuable insights on the genetic mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease and cancer, and developing targeted medicine with minimal adverse effects.
