The causes of human ageing and age-related diseases are a matter of intense debate in the scientific community and consensus has not yet been reached. UK Biobank contains rich data on the genetics, physiology, lifestyle, environment, diseases, and mortality of a naturally ageing human population. This provides an excellent starting point to discover novel causative connections between various intrinsic and extrinsic factors and human ageing and age-related diseases. Our primary objective is to identify and analyse these connections through advanced statistical, probabilistic, and machine learning methods. By leveraging the extensive dataset of the UK Biobank, we aim to uncover novel genetic markers, epigenetic modifications, and gene-environment interactions to gain a comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing ageing and the onset of age-related diseases. This holistic approach will inform preventive measures, therapeutic targets, and public health strategies to enhance healthspan and lifespan.
