Aims: To investigate the associations between epidemiological, clinical and genetic risk factors and the development of digestive diseases.
Scientific rationale: Digestive diseases share common risk factors, including epidemiological, clinical and genetic risk factors. Many epidemiological risk factors have been identified, including cigarette smoking, air pollution, occupational exposures, diet and physical activity. Clinical risk factors included bio-marker, MRI image and so on. Besides, most digestive diseases shared common genetic risk factors. Understanding the independent and joint effect of epidemiological, clinical and genetic factors on the development of digestive diseases will help to assess the modifiable risk and take reasonable prevention, diagnosis and treatment strategies.

Public health impact: This project is expected to improve understanding of the impact of potential risk factors on the development of digestive diseases and therefore contribute to improving health status and extending healthy lifespan.
