Aging-related diseases (ARDs) encompass a variety of health conditions that become increasingly prevalent as individuals age, including chronic diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, cardiovascular diseases, osteoarthritis, and osteoporosis. These musculoskeletal disorders can significantly affect mobility and overall health, highlighting the importance of understanding their underlying mechanisms. Insufficient knowledge about the aetiology of ARDs can result in ineffective prevention and treatment strategies. Both genetic and environmental factors play crucial roles in the development of these conditions; however, further research is warranted to identify specific genetic markers, environmental triggers, and their interactions with disease onset. Therefore, we plan to conduct a project focusing on identifying the genetic and environmental factors involved in the aetiology of aging-related diseases, particularly regarding osteoarthritis and osteoporosis, using data from the UK Biobank database.
