We aim to investigate the risk genes in allergic comorbidity/atopic march, and how it works in diseases progression. The goal of this research is to discover allergic comorbidity/atopic march risk genes in the Korean cohort through GWAS, and to find common risk loci across all races by performing trans-ethnic meta-analysis using UK biobank data. Previous studies have confirmed that simple asthma, atopic dermatitis, and allergic march have different genetic backgrounds. In addition, it is important to study allergic march through this study because the associated risk genes differ according to racial differences even in the same disease. We intend to provide information on the understanding of the mechanism of allergic march and the prevention and treatment of diseases in the future through this study.
We will interrogate the UKB database for associations between genetic factors and database entries related to factors associated with allergic comorbidity/allergic march, and find single associations as well as shared genetic factors. We will also use the UK Biobank data as a replication cohort for associations found in our own cohort study in Korea.
