Research Project Overview
This research project aims to investigate the associations between physical activity patterns, dietary habits, and lifestyle behaviors with chronic disease outcomes using the UK Biobank dataset. The study will explore how variations in physical activity intensity and type, along with nutritional and lifestyle factors, influence disease risk and mortality.
Research Questions:
1) How do physical activity patterns and lifestyle behaviors impact disease risk?
2) What role does body composition play in health outcomes?
3) What are the underlying mechanisms linking modifiable factors to disease development?
Objectives:
1) To examine the associations between physical activity, diet, and lifestyle factors with chronic diseases.
2) To develop prediction models for both major and understudied diseases.
3) To investigate interactions among behavioral, biological, and environmental factors in relation to health outcomes.
Scientific Rationale:
The UK Biobank’s extensive dataset provides a unique opportunity to analyze the relationships between lifestyle factors and health outcomes in detail. By leveraging this resource, this project will advance our understanding of how modifiable behaviors influence disease risk and progression, ultimately informing public health recommendations and prevention strategies.
