Disorders of the central nervous system may overlap in symptoms and can be difficult to identify in an early enough manner for the best treatment application. Through the development of blood-based tests that can identify specific markers related to certain diseases, we are getting closer than ever to better identification and understanding of diseases of the nervous system. Through the use of machine-learning models developed in our local cohort and other statistical methods, such as a meta-analysis, we aim to use the UK biobank to expand our data in order to identify the most applicable markers, and to validate their utility in a wider population and between multiple groups of people. The accomplishment of this project will allow for better blood tests for use in clinical trials, particularly of neurological disorders.
