This project focuses on using artificial intelligence (AI) to improve treatment for liver cancer, specifically for patients in an intermediate stage where the best course of action isn’t clear. Currently, doctors decide between surgery, liver transplant, or chemotherapy/radiation based on a system that doesn’t always account for the unique aspects of each patient’s situation. Our aim is to develop a smart computer model that looks at the patient’s medical history, images of their liver, and their genetic information to recommend the best treatment. This could mean better chances of recovery for patients, fewer side effects from treatments that might not have been ideal, and more effective use of hospital resources. The project is about making cancer treatment as tailored and effective as possible, bringing benefits not just to patients but to the public health system as a whole.
