In this study, we will conduct proteomic profiling of blood plasma samples from the ongoing UK Biobank COVID-19 repeat imaging study using four proteomics technologies – SomaLogic SomaScan, PrecisionOmics, Seer and Biognosys. We will apply these technologies to samples collected from 625 cases and 625 controls at Imaging Visit 1 and Imaging Visit 2 of the repeat imaging study, comprising 2,500 blood samples total. The study aims to comprehensively characterize blood-based biomarkers of SARS-CoV-2 infection, capturing upwards of 10,000 plasma proteins before and after COVID-19 infection. Taken together with data generated from the ongoing Olink Pharma Proteomics Project, the study will offer research scientists an opportunity to yield synergistic insights into human health and disease using multiple mass spectrometry and affinity-based proteomics assays.
