Our research is focused on discovering early signs of heart attacks and cardiovascular diseases by examining fundus images of the retina. It has been shown that these can provide crucial information about the health of our heart and blood vessels. The retina provides a unique view into our body’s vascular system. Changes in retinal blood vessels could be early indicators of heart disease. Our project aims to investigate these changes to identify early warning signs of cardiovascular risk. The study is planned for a period of three years. We aim to develop a preliminary model for predicting cardiovascular diseases from retinal images. This model could transform eye exams into opportunities for heart disease screening, potentially influencing medical practices and public health strategies. Beyond immediate outcomes, our research could offer more insights into the relationship between eye and heart health.
