Research about individuals with superior memory performance and the characteristics that make them resilient to brain pathology and neurodegeneration has mostly focused on brain structure, imaging, and histopathology. Fewer studies have investigated the broader molecular landscape that may underlie this resilience. Expanding our focus to omics offers an opportunity to identify systemic pathways and biomarkers that could inform preventative strategies and therapeutic targets for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD). We will conduct a case-control study (typical memory individuals x superior memory individuals) and compare genomic and epigenomic wide variant dosages, proteomics, and metabolomics abundance profiles using mixed-effects models.
