Research questions:
What is the prevalence of health problems (i.e., cardiac dysfunction, pain , frailty, functional limitation, mental disorders, sleep disorders, cognitive impairment ) among cancer survivors?
What factors (i.e., socio-demographics, lifestyle factors, health-related factors, biomarkers) may predict the occurrence of health problems among cancer survivors?
Objectives:
To examine the prevalence of and factors associated with health problems among cancer survivors.
Scientific rationale of the research:
Survivors of cancer commonly experience short-term and long-term physical and psychosocial issues, such as cardiac dysfunction, pain , frailty, functional limitation, mental disorders, sleep disorders, cognitive impairment, et al. These problems may last for a long time and adversely affect the health-related quality of life and survival outcomes. Socio-demographics, lifestyle factors, health-related factors, and biomarkers may help identify cancer survivors at a higher risk of these problems. However, these short-term and long-term health problems and the risk factors are not well understood. Large, prospective studies are needed to understand the health problems of cancer survivors and to prevent or ameliorate these health problems.
