Vascular disease (such as stroke) and risk factors (such as hypertension and diabetes) can play a role in Cognitive Impairments and Dementia. These Vascular contributions to Cognitive Impairments and Dementia (VCID) are most heavily influenced by a person’s age, but sex-specific vascular risk factors (VRFs) may also play a role in increased dementia risk. There is an urgent need to identify risk factors that can be changed or treated and to learn more about sex-specific VCID. The goal of this study is to use multiple types of medical data to show a relationship involving VRFs that will help with early diagnosis and improve treatment decisions that will delay progression of cognitive decline. The study is proposed to last about 18 months.
