Research question:
More and more research has begun to focus on the impact of individual differences on the nutritional needs of the elderly. However, current studies mostly focus on cross-sectional analysis of nutritional status in specific disease, and often ignore the dynamic changes of nutritional metabolism in the elderly during aging. It is worth noting that the process of aging is not a simple linear development, but accompanied by the rapid degradation of organ function at some time points. This non-linear change leads to a corresponding change in the nutritional metabolism of the elderly. Therefore, future research is urgently needed to explore the complex dynamic patterns of nutrient metabolism during aging.
Objectives: The objective of the study is to explore dynamic change of nutrition metabolism with age in the elderly and to identify the population characteristics under different nutritional metabolic phenotypes, providing information for implementing precise nutritional interventions and theoretical basis for promoting the creation of nutritional and healthy foods for the elderly.
Scientific rationale:
Due to unreasonable dietary structures and the decline in organ function caused by aging, the nutritional status of the elderly population is not optimistic. With the deepening of population aging, this problem is more prominent, which seriously threatens the quality of life and health of the elderly. To address nutritional issues among the elderly, clarifying their nutritional needs and implementing precise nutritional intervention based on individual need is crucial. We use latent class trajectory models to explore dynamic change of nutrition metabolism with age in the elderly and to identify the population characteristics under different nutritional metabolic phenotypes, providing information for implementing precise nutritional interventions and theoretical basis for promoting the creation of nutritional and healthy foods for the elderly.
