Non-communicable disease (NCDs), including cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and depression, are collectively responsible for almost 70% of mortality globally. The epidemic of NCDs poses devastating threatens to individual health, families and overwhelm health systems. It is necessary to develop better strategies to reduce the morbidity and mortality of major NCDs by identifying the factors of major outcomes. The overall aim of this research project is to provide a better understanding on the association of a variety of characteristics, including lifestyle factors, environmental factors, genetic factors, and biomarkers, and non-communicable chronic disease. NCDs are the result of a combination of genetic, physiological, environmental, and behaviors factors. The project will take advantage of UK biobank cohort to systematically identify the risk factors and the potential interaction effects for NCDs risk and disease-related outcomes. This project is expected to last for 36 months. Our findings may contribute to guiding preventive efforts for chronic disease, prolonging life span, improving the quality of life of the public.
