We are from Remidio Innovative Solutions Private Limited. At Remidio our mission is to make eyecare equitably accessible through simple-to-use, cutting edge technology. We are focused on developing AI-enabled portable non-mydriatic fundus cameras for the screening of various sight-threatening eye conditions. Remidio’s vision extends beyond the eye, positioning the eye as a window into systemic health. Our aim is to leverage fundus photography not only to detect ocular conditions but also to identify systemic diseases such as coronary artery disease (CAD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD).
The primary aim of this research is to train and validate AI models, which are designed to detect and predict life-threatening systemic health conditions, including CAD and CKD, from fundus images. Our intent is to deliver last-mile care and bring specialist care to the primary care level, enabling detection of life-threatening or irreversibly debilitating conditions using AI powered fundus cameras.
The data obtained from the UK Biobank will be instrumental in training and validating these AI models for the early detection of CAD and CKD. The primary research questions are:
1. How accurately can the AI models detect hypertension, coronary artery disease (CAD), heart failure and stroke?
2. How accurately can the newly developed AI models stage and predict the future risk of CVD events and CKD using the UK Biobank dataset?
3. How do these AI models perform across different demographic profiles – age group, gender and ethnicities?
