Trans-ethnic GWAS meta-analysis and exploration of trait-relevant genetic architecture.

We aim to explore the genetic background relevant to health-related conditions. Genetic background difference among populations also affects difference in disease susceptibility. We plan to combine and compare the data from different populations to elucidate this difference. Our group previously reported successful Phenome-Wide Association Study and cross-traits analysis (Kanai et al. doi: 10.1038/s41588-018-0047-6. and Hirata et al. doi:10.1038/s41588-018-0336-0.) which elucidated correlations and shared effect at genetic and genomic level among broad range of disease spectrum. We plan to use all available phenotypes in the medical records, and apply multiple approaches to assess those correlations. Our study will be useful in understanding the disease pathophysiology, and also helpful in precision medicine, where genetic and/or genomic data is utilised in management of diseases. Our project will take up to 36 months, but can be prolonged depending on the progress. Our project will provide basic information necessary in making decision regarding individuals’ health-related condition.
